Grant Shanklin

Grant is a sophomore at Yale University majoring in Computer Science. His main interest lies in how technology and the law are able to work together in order to maximize the societal good brought about by innovation, with a particular focus on privacy and security. At the DEC, his Directors’ Fellowship research includes a legal and ethical analysis of the use of code of various open-source licenses in AI datasets. Previously he has worked in the cybersecurity industry, completing internships in ethical hacking and conducting research into AI-driven password cracking. At Yale, he enjoys debating at the Yale Political Union and is engaged in religious life through Christian Union.
