Kevin Chen is a Master in Public Policy candidate at Yale’s Jackson School of Global Affairs and an affiliate of the Schmidt Program. His research examines epistemic risk and institutional judgment as governments come to rely on AI systems for drafting, summarization, and analysis. He is especially interested in the gap between the AI safety community and the international relations field on this question. Before Yale, Kevin spent several years in U.S. public service working in data science and machine learning, where he saw firsthand how analytic workflows absorb new tools. This past summer he was a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Governance of AI in London, where he worked under James Coates. He holds a BA in Quantitative Social Science from Dartmouth College.
